You know not to be one of those people but if the star child was telling the truth about the red exposion nuking all robot type people then shepherd would be deader then shit since he/ she had so much of their body relying on the simferic parts. Hell the star child even says this

I ended up Controlling the Reapers when all was said and done.  I just find the idea of becoming an immortal god machine...appealing.

Sadly not everyone wants the power of a god at their finger tips.

For some reason...

I read a Control Ending fanfic the other day (archiveofourown.org/works/1167885), about Shepard downloading herself into a human-like platform and reconnecting with the team.  The premise and some of the comments made me think -- did people just not realize this was a thing?  Did everyone just think "oh, but if I upload my identity into a nigh-omnipotent AI form in control of an endless army of the most advanced machines known to science, which are already known to interface with and control human-scale platforms, there can't possibly be any way to interact with the team again, I'll just have to stay as an aloof impartial robo-ghost forever"?

I want to think that people can't possibly be that unimaginative, but unfortunately I know too many people.

Actually it wouldn't be the same.  There's a bit of a difference in coming back from the dead with a rebuild body and coming back from the dead as an entire race of god machines.

I hate that stupid star-child-god-thing. I wanted to kick him right off the ledge! (but it wasn't a freaking option -_-)

Sorry, but I am NOT throwing away my life and love (Jackolyte Maleshep) so that Joker can keep a sexbot as a "girlfriend".

I really like what you're portraying here, it comes across very well.

That said, "This will also wipe out the Geth and EDI because... I dunno, reasons or something." Hack writers are hacks.

It would apply well to Bioware as to how they did ME3; excellent improvements (in some areas at least) to combat in exchange for a majorly dumbed-down Role-Playing feeling.

Love it; this is my head canon for my Shep as well. Not necessarily the rest of the comic, but this one page? Yep. Also, that last image is fantastic and represents the battle hardened moment so well.

I drew him several times but never really liked how he turned out. Face it, when it comes to creepy ghost children, comical is the only way to go. Well, for me at least.

This is why synthesis is the best.

Not to start a huge "no, this ending was better" war in the comments, but to be completely honest I had personal issues with all of the endings. Of course, for me Control was OUT OF THE QUESTION! I mean, whose to say that was what they wanted all along? Or if it wasn't who's to say that after controlling them, Shepard wouldn't become more and more like them? to ultimatly becoming indoctrinated and the cycle will start all over? Then of course there was synthesis. But the more I thought about it the more I decided that it would be a horrible idea. If you think about it, the galaxy had been at war with the reapers. Hundreds upon thousands of people died at their hands and even more were turned into husks/cannibals/banshees etc... So after synthesis, yeah everyone will be the perfect blend of organic and synthetic and what not, but the prejudiced between the galaxy and the reapers would still be too great. Thus I personally think war would still continue. Even Destroy was a hard choice. There are the issues that were brought up in the game, that synthetics would be created again and war would would eventually follow after that. But I though about my Shepard and her stance on not wanting to be the one to condone a whole race. That by choosing Destroy, she would be killing every geth that she just helped become individuals and putting a halt on the Quarians being able to live a life without their suits. And of course I personally felt like a douche bag cause I killed EDI. God if Joker was real I'm sure he would kick my ass for killing off his girlfriend.

This is the type of nerd I am. When people took up pitchforks and torches saying that these kinds of 'endings' were crap, i was still having a inner turmoil on which one to choose! For I actually enjoy a game that makes me get up from my computer and contemplate the fate of the universe and still beat the crap outta myself over it. So in the end, I remembered why I was there and what Shepard's mission was; To destroy the reapers. Thus I picked the destroy ending. But, I will admit, at the end of the Synthesis scene my heart melted when EDI came out of the Normandy and shoulder bumped Joker into a hug.

Yeah, if your suspension of disbelief can't be shattered by anything and your Shepard is an extreme risk taker, then sure, it has lots of good feels at that point.

Why does s/he have to be a risk taker?

Because, it represents an exteme unknown and more conservative options are directly available, for instance, choosing control and then researching the possibilities of synthesis in the future. Why do something that will fundamentally alter all life forver while knowing nothing more about the transformation except the extremely vague description given by the catalyst, when you could take control of the Reapers and take your time to research what it woud ACTUALLY MEAN, building a new crucible later if you decided that synthesis should be enacted? Not that control isn't also very risky, just less so.

But risk is only one my problems with synthesis. I have many problems with it on almost all levels of analysis. And that's not something that I can say about the other three options. I have problems with all of them, but I can't say they have problems at EVERY level, moral, narrative, IC roleplaying.
